WildWood Movie Review

Award winning movie, WildWood is now out in theatre's, starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Prue, Jacob Tremblay as Curtis, and Carey Mulligan as Alexandra. A dark fantasy Claymation film directed by Travis Knight, the CEO of Lakia studios, the same studio who produced the popular movie, Coraline in 2009.
WildWood explores the adventures of Prue McKeel as she sets off to the forests outside Portland, Oregon to find her kidnapped brother. Alexandra, a grieving mother who lost her son years ago, is willing to do anything to bring her son back. Although she would've done anything to bring back her son, the moral of the story is learning to let go and cope with the tragedies that may happen in your life.
I believe WildWood portrays this very nicely. I also love that director; Travis Knight makes an anti-AI claim:
“Lakia will never use generative AI in their films: AI is theft. It's the ingestion of years and years and years of human creativity and ingenuity, regurgitated back. It has no humanity. It has no spirit.”
In a society that is now filled with AI saturated content, it is refreshing to see that there is still a drive and passion for creating art. Fun fact, each frame was made by hand, and it took sixteen years to film!
WildWoods' average movie rating is 8.7/10 on, 99% rotten tomatoes, and a 97% on Fandango. My personal rating of this movie, I would give a 9/10. Great storytelling, engaging, creative, and the animation was incredible!
