Dance Moms originally premiered in 2011. The show follows about seven young girls, their moms, and their demanding dance teacher Abby Lee Miller, as they travel around the country competing in dance competitions. Infamous for being one of the most dramatic television series of the 2010s, creating a toxic environment for children, and breeding some of the first child social media stars, the young kids that once danced on our TV screens are all grown up and are coming back to recount their experience on the show.

Back in November 2023, members of the Dance Moms cast posted pictures of the cast reuniting and revealed that they were recording a two-hour tell-all reunion special revisiting their past, and the effect the show had on their lives.

The reunion includes Kelly Hyland and her daughters Brooke and Paige, Jessalyn Siwa and her daughter Jojo, Jill Vertez and her daughter Kendall, Kira Girard and her daughter Kalani Hiliker, and Chloe Lukasiak, whose mother Christi couldn’t make it due to scheduling issues but is rumored to make a guest appearance.

Fans were disappointed to learn that some members of the cast wouldn’t be coming back. The Zeiglers – Maddie, MacKenzie, and Melissa – will not be making an appearance at the reunion. Since they departed from the show, the Zeigler kids have minimally acknowledged their time on Dance Moms, seemingly due to their negative experiences.

Along with the Zeiglers, Nia Sioux and her mother Holly Frazier were also missing from the reunion, which shocked many fans since the mother-daughter duo were the only ones to remain on the show from the first season until this cast’s last one (season seven). But Nia shared that instead, she was following in her mother’s footsteps in joining Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at UCLA.

From the trailer, it seems like the cast will be recounting everything from their favorite moments and their most traumatic experiences to their current relationship with Abby Lee Miller. Dance Moms: The Reunion will premier on May 1st on Lifetime.
