Record Jackpot in Lottery History

Have you ever played the lottery? Were you able to get one of the numbers or at least even win anything after spending money to purchase the ticket? I hope if you played this past Monday on November 7th, 2022, you were able to win at least something little, because the winning ticket was sold in California in Los Angeles County. Going into Monday night the lottery total was at $1.9 billion but by the time the drawing happened the total raised to $2.04 billion and was the largest ever jackpot in the history of the lottery. Not only did this lottery break that record but it also was the largest lottery to be won by a single ticket. Many times you will see a large jackpot won by many different people, like the second largest jackpot, which was won by three different players.

This was one of the very few times where the jackpot lottery numbers were delayed and this was due to all of the play data and sales from the 48 lotteries not being submitted right away which caused a delay in the drawing. Powerball requires this in order for the winning numbers to be drawn, and since there was a delay in that it delayed the drawing. The drawing ended up taking place at 9am on November 8th, 2022 and the numbers were 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and the Powerball number was 10.

In my opinion, I used to love the idea of playing it because it's fun and of course imagine you win the huge jackpot. Realistically though, I’d rather spend $2 or even $3 on a scratch ticket since there are better odds to win; Even though you don’t win a million dollars, at least you win something, versus hoping to win by getting the powerball number to win $4. The odds of winning the jackpot prize by matching all 5 numbers and the Powerball number are 1 in 292.2 million. Just think about that for a second… Now think about that next time you are thinking about playing the lottery in Powerball or even Mega Millions.
