Eastern Connecticut State University's men's swimming team finished second out of five teams at the Chris Fisher Invitational on Saturday, October 24, earning a total of 402 points.
The Warriors had strong performances in both individual and relay events, helping the team secure a top-two finish at the invitational.
One of Eastern's top performances came in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Warriors' relay team, consisting of Hayden, Gian, AJ, and Ethan Brodman, finished second with a time of 1:29.38. The team delivered a competitive performance in the relay, earning valuable points toward Eastern's overall team score.
The 200-yard freestyle relay requires each swimmer to complete 50 yards of freestyle before tagging the next teammate. Strong individual splits and smooth exchanges are important to producing a competitive overall time. Eastern's second-place finish gave the Warriors another strong result during the invitational.
Ethan Brodman also earned an individual podium finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Brodman placed third with a time of 21.74 seconds, adding important points to Eastern's team total. The 50-yard freestyle is one of the shortest events in competitive swimming, making speed and an explosive start important factors in a swimmer's performance.
Brodman's third-place finish gave Eastern another top-three result at the invitational. His performance, combined with the relay team's second-place finish, contributed to the Warriors' overall showing.
Eastern's second-place finish reflected the team's ability to earn points across the meet. In team swimming competitions, every event can contribute to the final standings, making individual placements and relay performances important to the overall result. Finishing second out of five teams with 402 points gave the Warriors a strong result at the Chris Fisher Invitational. The team's performances in the freestyle events provided highlights from the meet as Eastern continued its season.
The Warriors will look to build on their performance as they continue competing throughout the season. With individual swimmers earning podium finishes and the relay team placing second, Eastern showed that it could compete for strong finishes at the invitational.
