Eastern students waking up this morning (or perhaps, for the night owls amongst us, before they went to sleep) woke up to a mysterious email from the campus’ marketing team. What appears to be a giant red and blue ‘E’ cropped slightly out of frame, with only the words ‘THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING’, and a date (1/29/26), to describe it. The only other detail was that it was designed by Skyler Rapacioli, Class of 2028. The same content was shared simultaneously on Eastern’s social media as well, such as Instagram.

Some signs have also appeared around campus. One, shown here, displayed the words ‘Elevate Every Day’ in the shape of an E. The same date, 1/29/26, was at the bottom.
The Campus Lantern reached out for comment from Ryan Quigley, head of Eastern’s Communications & Marketing Team. He described the initial email as “...part of a short, coordinated marketing campaign that’s being shared via email and social media this week.” More content will be released nightly until Friday. At that point, he says, “the campus community will receive complete information about an event taking place on January 29, 2026, at the Student Center.”
Is this a new logo for the university? Many seem to think so. One post on Fizz reposted the Instagram announcement, captioning, “Looks like the new logo is real…thoughts?” The post received over 1,300 upvotes at time of writing, with many reactions in the comments. The reactions from these comments were largely negative. Users compared the logo to one for a gas station, pepsi ad, and an airline. A poll to gauge public opinion received 793 fizzes (votes) at time of writing, with 4% (29) positive, 61% (488) negative, and 35% (276) neutral.
While many suspect it to be a new logo for the school, though, nothing is confirmed. Another possibility, based on the Red, White and Blue coloring, could be that this is the logo of an America250 program, which many states, towns and organizations are kickstarting in anticipation of America’s semiquincentennial in July. More information will come in the following days and nights.
