Eastern’s annual involvement fair took place on the fourth, bringing together every student club and organization on the FAIC lawn. New and old clubs alike set up tables shoulder-to-shoulder, gilded with QR codes, frisbees, free snacks, and flyers as legions of Eastern warriors stopped to take a look.

Over eighty student organizations had assigned tables, divided into seven categories on posterboards. Along with many other familiar sights, several new clubs made their appearances as well, some with unique strategies to draw eyes. One such club was the ‘Cosplay and Costumes Craft’, which one member described as involving ‘...all things costumes, especially making them!’ Beside a sewing machine, their table garnered significant attention thanks to a tiny kitten laid on the tablecloth. Behind the table was a stroller with several more kittens inside again.

This reporter can confirm that they were, in fact, adorable.

Another new club, being established at the end of last semester, is ‘Vital Voices’, a club dedicated to advocating for reproductive rights. They are welcome to all new members, and meet Fridays, 5-6 in STU217. Three tables down were the College Republicans, also founded last semester. They describe themselves as working to strengthen conservative values and elect Republican candidates. They meet at 8PM on Mondays in STU223. At times, their members could be seen performing the Cotton Eyed Joe to entertain passersbys.

Running parallel to the Involvement Fair was the President’s Picnic. Hurley Hall was closed temporarily to prepare food for the event. Lo mein, biscuits and chicken bowls were some of the food offered, along with cookies, popcorn and several drinks.

The semi-mythical ‘Monkey Man’ did not make an appearance at the club fair, although a mysterious figure in a Slenderman costume was, at points, spotted asking if anyone had seen him. How the two are related is not yet known.
